Coffee Break #60
Well, hey there friends and welcome to my first Coffee Break of 2026! (I know…it’s March!) Today, I am popping in with a quick update and to fill you in on what’s coming down the pike here on the blog…very soon!

ICYMI
I haven’t exactly been a consistent blogger in the months since my last Coffee Break post. So if you haven’t stopped by in a while, I wanted to highlight that I *finally* finished up documenting our North Carolina home…
Yes, the one we moved out of almost 2 years ago.
It’s not particularly exciting to write about projects and spaces that are long gone, so these final few posts took me longer than I would have liked.
Sorry about that.
I know…I could have skipped these posts altogether. But I really wanted to intentionally close out our NC chapter here on the blog because that home was such a monumental undertaking that I’m still so very proud of.
But it’s now done (phew!), and I’m ready to move.right.along!
If you missed any of the final posts from our NC home, you can catch up here:

Blink & You’ll Miss It
With the North Carolina chapter finally closed, you’re likely expecting me to start posting about our next home which was in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
But I’m going to be really honest with you…I took almost no photos of our home during the 10 months we lived there.
Ready to see the few I did get?

There we go – Home #10 final reveal done! 😉
Because Greg’s assignment at Carlisle Barracks was so short, we put most of our stuff in storage and I did minimal projects.
(My decorating efforts consisted of wallpapering 2 walls, hanging curtains in the main spaces, and buying lots of plants.)
In hindsight, this “break” (from our stuff, from projects, from the blog) turned out to be just the breather I needed. Because when we moved into our current home in Camp Pendleton, California last summer, I was ready to make it ours in all my usual ways.
And let me tell you friends, I’ve been busy!
It’s Go Time
Since my last Coffee Break post, I’ve continued to simmer on how best to move forward here on the blog.
Even though I had pretty much decided I was done with “formal blogging,” every project I completed in our new home had me thinking…
“Gosh – I really want my readers to see this.”
or
“I just know someone can use this idea too!”
So I decided to find a way to start sharing my ideas again.
But I needed a new approach…one that felt both authentically me and also fun and fresh and EASY…for all of us!
And I think I’ve got it.
Every Sunday, I’m going to share a new project that I’ve done in our current home. These projects are simple and focused…and my posts will be short, sweet, and most of all: inspiring.
No more 3000 word posts. No more formality, strategy, keywords, sponsorships, paywalls, products, or pitches.
I’m going to show you what I’ve done to our home and (more importantly!) explain the why behind my choices so you can be inspired and (hopefully!) solve some similar dilemmas in your own spaces.
Here are some of the sneakiest sneak peeks of what’s to come…

These projects will live right here on the blog where they’ve always been.
But if you want them delivered straight to your Inbox (yes, ALL of it, ad free with some BONUS behind-the-scenes scoop too!), be sure to subscribe to The Sunday Short newsletter.
This might not feel new and different YET…but I promise…it’s gonna be! The first issue goes out next Sunday, and I think you’re gonna love it!
After months and months (and months) of feeling no spark, suddenly there are embers. And I’m finally ready to breathe life back into this space and make some flames!
Megan

Missed you!
I’ve enjoyed watching you decorate your homes and making them “yours”. Mostly because they are mostly what I would be doing too -if I had the ability and the drive. So I live vicariously through your efforts.
Love your haircut. It suits you so well.
And yes, time and seasons change what we can do and want to do. And that’s ok. I’m in the middle of one of those times and seasons and keep thinking there is a light at the end of the tunnel and what adventure will I choose next? I’m glad you have found enjoyment in where you are and what you are doing.
Your ideas are simple, affordable, and exactly what I need. Thank you for sharing!
Good for you (as is your new hair!) — pivoting through choice is the best way too. I look forward to seeing your ‘stuff’ again! 😘
YAY!
Happy you are back!
So excited! I loved the blink or you’ll miss it photos of Pennsylvania. Four is an excellent number of photos! 🙂 It looked lovely, and hooray for taking the time you need!
Welcome back! I’ve really enjoyed your posts over the years and love all of your decorating tips. It will be great to see your tips and techniques again in whatever form works best for you.
I’m happy that you are feeling more inspired. As someone who also moves quite a bit I am usually looking for tips and tricks. I usually only spend a year, maybe two in a place and because of that I haven’t wanted to invest in making a place feel more like home but I recently found a woman on youtube who said the same thing but decided to go ahead and do it anyway. She now does what you do to make the temporary spaces feel like home. Even if it’s temporary. Thank you for sharing. It’s much appreciated.
Looking forward to joining you in this new chapter! As the wife of a retired Navy submariner, I have enjoyed following your blog…even though I ran across it after we stopped moving every few years. I’m happy you’re willing to try a new way to share with your followers, and I hope it works for you. There are many of us who have benefited from your various “tips and tricks” over the years, whether it be in decorating, organization, running a smooth household, trying out a capsule wardrobe, just to name a few. I welcome anything you care to share in the future!
Love the haircut. It suits you.
Glad that you’re back and looking forward to your newsletters!!!
You’ve been missed! And not just by me. I enjoy your warm friendly style, and what you share takes me back to our days as a (moving around a lot) Navy family.
Longtime reader here, glad to see you back in your new form. Haircut looks great! I always like seeing how you pull your homes together, but totally understand that you have a whole life outside this space.
Looking forward to seeing what you get up to next.
Yay! I’m so happy to see your name in my email inbox. I look forward to your projects.
hugs!
Welcome back, Megan! You have been greatly missed. Looking forward to seeing your wonderful ideas. Welcome back to San Diego County, as well. I’m praying for the safety of all of our troops. Blessings.
Sounds terrific Megan! I hope your new approach feels comfortable for you and energizes you. I have really enjoyed following you for years and year and you remain one of my favorite bloggers! We don’t need 3000 word posts (gosh it feels exhausting to even contemplate writing one!). 🙂
So excited you’re back, and I love the new format! Feels sort of like what blogging was in the old days, when I fell in love with it. Just reading the simple life things, and being inspired in how it might be applicable to my circumstances, or trigger an idea of my own on tackling a different problem. I’m over the complicated!
I just love that you do this! You create such lovely homey spaces. I could have used you about 35 years ago. My husband was a GM in the hotel industry and would take newly bought properties and take them from being in the red into the black. We moved so often, I cannot pass the IRS test online that you have to pick the street address where you lived or did not live. There were way too many to keep tract of. God Bless you and thank you to you, your husband and your boys for serving!!!
Glad to hear from you again. Waiting to enjoy your new posts and to appreciate the creative juices flow again.
Kindly,

Love love love!
I stopped following most bloggers because they had strayed SO far from the original intent of sharing great DIY projects and inspiration. I love that your posts are always implementable and the only products you showcase are things that you actually use/like. Your posts actually show things I can replicate in my own home. And even your old homes still have value in the projects so I didn’t mind you wrapping up your NC home at all. Made perfect sense to me!
I’m glad you got a mental break and, selfishly, so happy to have your ideas back in my inbox! 💙
