Printable Lunch Box Planner & Print-&-Go Lunch Notes
Ahhh! Back-to-school time is here! Whether the kids in your home (or your area) went back to school within the last month or start this week, this is such a fun and exciting time of year (maybe just for us parents that is!) With the back-to-school routine also comes the task of packing lunches day-in and day-out, which may either be your favorite thing ever or the bane of your existence. I, for one, fall somewhere in between those two extremes since I only have one lunch to pack each day, and Henry prefers pretty much the same things day in and day out. But…for those of you who are looking to take your lunch game up a notch or are just needing a system to make the process a bit smoother each morning, the latest Toolbox kit is for you! This month, I’m sharing a quick-and-easy-to-use Printable Lunch Box Planner, as well as a whole slew of print-and-go lunch box notes. It is my hope that when used together, they will make preparing school lunches a bit more fun and a whole lot easier!
This all-new 15-page Printable Lunch Box Planner includes everything you need to brainstorm and plan out lunches for yourself or the whole family!
From fully editable planning pages for a one week, one month, and the whole family…
…to adorable print-and-go lunch box notes perfect for a variety of ages (including even the grown ups in the house)…
…there’s lots of goodies to make lunch time a little easier! Let me show you the different worksheets included in this kit, starting with the three different lunch planners!
Printable Lunch Box Planners
There are lots of different ways to plan out lunches, and I wanted to provide different worksheets to meet those various needs.
The first option is an individual weekly planner, which provides space to plan out each lunch for the week, as well as list out items to add to your grocery list and tasks you need to do to prep ahead for the week.
TIP! Even though this kit was “designed” to be for school lunches, this planner is ideal for any age!
Like all of my printables, the worksheets included editable text fields, so you can either type out or handwrite in your plans for the week!
The next planner features an entire month-at-a-glance.
First populate the worksheet with the month and dates and then fill out the lunches for the entire month. This planner is a really great way to ensure you’re changing lunches up regularly and tracking on unique lunch events such as buying lunch, classroom parties, field trips, etc.
Just tape this snazzy printable to the front of the refrigerator and you’ll know what to pack up each and every morning!
The third planner included will help you plan out a week’s worth of meals for your entire family! Along the left-side of the printable, type/write in each family member’s name. Then populate the worksheet with appropriate lunches for each person.
This planner is great if you have a big family (just print out multiple sheets for families larger than 4!) and/or kids who like really different things. This at-a-glance chart will help you keep track of what you’re packing up for who and when!
TIP! Slide any of these planners into your All-In-One Kitchen Binder or Back-to-School Binder for quick and easy access!
Lunch Idea Worksheets
In addition to the three planners shown above, I also wanted to provide some worksheets to help you generate lunch ideas and/or keep track of family favorites! This landscape-oriented Lunch Ideas sheet includes categories for Main Dishes, Fruits, Veggies, Snacks, Desserts and Drinks. I didn’t populate it for you, but rather left it blank so you can fill it out for your family or each child. This can serve as a mix-and-match idea chart for you, or you could laminate it and give it to your kids at the start of each week so they can select what they want! If you feel like you or your kids are in a lunchtime rut, taking some time to populate this worksheet with new ideas will get everybody excited about lunchtime again!
The fifth and final worksheet included is a Lunch Favorites tracker. You can type in each family member’s name and then list out the items and combinations each person really loves. Again, if you have multiple kids or family members you are trying to pack lunches for, this can save you some mental work each and every morning!
Both the Lunch Ideas and the Lunch Favorites worksheets can be filled out once (or every so often) and tucked into your Kitchen Binder. You can then use them as idea sheets to fill in whatever lunch planner makes most sense for your family!
Print-and-Go Lunch Notes
The other 10 pages of this fun kit feature a variety of school-themed print-and-go lunch box notes!
I had SOOO much fun designing these and coming up with “punny” phrases! I hope they bring a smile to your (and your kiddos’!) faces!
There are 5 pages of lunch note designs, available in both color and black-and-white. Three of the pages include 24 graphic “punny” notecards, and two pages feature blank notes for you to write whatever you wish!
All of the lunch box note pages should be printed at 100% resolution onto heavyweight paper or cardstock. You’ll notice each page has faint cut-lines between each note.
Simply use a paper trimmer or scissors to slice down all the lines…
…and your lunch notes will be sized right and be ready to pop into your child’s lunch box or backpack!
I love the print-and-go cards for mornings when I am running behind, but I also like to be able to write out a unique or personal note too. Keeping a stack of index cards close by is an easy solution, but these printable clipboards and pin notes make for the cutest little cards!
You can print out a bunch, slice them down, and keep them handy anytime you need to tuck a sweet sentiment into the school bag!
These blank notecards also have editable text boxes! So whether you want to write out your messages or type-and-print a bunch at a time, the choice is yours!
Just like I did with my Summer Boredom Buster booklets, I also included black-and-white versions of the lunch box notes pages.
Not only is black ink MUCH cheaper, but this way you can print out the notes on any color paper you wish, allowing you to ultimately customize them for your kiddo(s)!
The clip boards and pinned notes are also available in black-and-white…
…and by printing on just a few sheets of colored paper, you can be set with notes for the whole year!
TIP! I like to keep our lunch box notes in the kitchen drawer right next to where I prep lunches. Now with everything pre-printed and cut out, I can just grab-write-go!
With the Printable Lunch Box Planner and print-and-go notes combined, you’ll be fully prepared to make lunch time quicker, easier and a little more fun too!

As I mentioned above, our lunch prep routine is pretty simple. Henry is very much a creature of habit, and I assemble almost the same thing for him on most days. However, simply desinging this kit and filling it out for photographs really got me inspired to try some new things for him. With just a little bit of planning and experimentation (and a cute note tossed in for fun!), lunch time can be a little more enjoyable and nutritious for all of us!
I for one am super excited to see the calendar flip to September. With school back in session our our Fall schedule off-and-running, I am ready to be back on a more steady routine and get things back to normal around here. I appreciate your patience over the last few weeks, and I look forward to seeing you here each Tuesday and Friday!
