You guys! I have such a fun and simple DIY to share with you today! These little christmas light drink charms really couldn’t be any easier or any cuter. They are the perfect little thoughtful and inexpensive gesture for everyone on your list. In just minutes you can make a complete set, so you can easily whip them up for all of your friends, co-workers and neighbors. Even better, pair them with a bottle of wine for a festive hostess gift anyone would love to receive! If mini Christmas lights don’t strike your fancy, you can easily make drink charms with any iconic Christmas images since these are made with off-the-shelf mini Christmas ornaments! Are you ready to see how easy these come together?
To Make Christmas Light Drink Charms:
- Package of mini Christmas ornaments (Pick whatever ornaments you like, just ensure there is enough variety to make 6-8 unique charms. Mine are from Hobby Lobby.)
- Basic earring loops (these can be found at any craft store) or use wine charm hooks!
- Needle-nose pliers
Since these little lightbulb ornaments came pre-colored and glittered, the drink charms came together quite quickly. From one single package (for $2.99), I was able to make three complete sets of 6 charms. If you want to make a larger set, you could easily glue and glitter the bulbs into even more colors.
The jewelry hooks come with one end already looped (below left). Using a needle nose pliers, twist the other end into a c-shape that can hook right into the loop on the other side (below right). (Note: if you use pre-made wine charm hooks, you don’t eve need to bend the hooks!)
Next, thread the mini ornament onto the loop and hook it shut.
That’s one done…now repeat for as many more as you want to make!
To package the hooks for giving, simply punch holes into a piece of glittery cardstock and hook each one on. These are small enough to slip into your Christmas card or a decorative envelop for gifting…
Or you can package them with a bottle of wine to complete the themed set!
I am totally hooked (ha!) on the idea of using mini ornaments as drink charms. These days, you can get mini ornaments in so many fun shapes and sizes, that the possibilities really are endless. I can’t wait to make more because they will be perfect for my holiday party this year, don’t you think???
This isn’t the first time I’ve made holiday drink charms. While they are a bit more involved, be sure to check out my glittery snowflake version too!
I hope you guys have a fantastic weekend. In addition to getting our house all Christmas ready, I’ll also be sending out my first monthly newsletter with a holiday planning printable! If you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to do so below! See you back here Monday!
