Hello, and welcome to The Homes I Have Made!
My name is Megan Duesterhaus. I am an exercise and nutrition professional turned stay-at-home mom and am the creative and blogger behind The Homes I Have Made, LLC. Married to a US Marine, we are currently living in our 6th home in 10 years. Since our military experiences takes us far away from the people and places we know and love the most, I believe it’s worth the time and effort to make each and every space we live in feel like a real home. Armed with creativity, ingenuity, and a can-do attitude, I strive to make our temporary/military/rental spaces feel personal and special by employing clever DIY projects, functional storage solutions, and creative home layouts.
THIHM is a DIY/home décor blog that chronicles my journey as I create these “new” homes every few years. I serve up daily inspiration for renter-friendly, movable décor and organizational projects that are high on style and function yet low on complexity and budget. I feature a steady rotation of DIY projects, organization solutions, home décor inspirations, and small craft ventures alongside doses of real-life glimpses into our military lifestyle!
My style is modern, fresh, bold, preppy, and clean. I like to use playful patterns, colorful accents, and heavy doses of white to create happy and vibrant spaces. I prioritize budget and function over excess and clutter, and utilize intuitive systems and layouts to create spaces that work and live as well as they look. My work has been featured online at Today.com, GoodHouseKeeping.com, ForRent.com, Zillow.com, I Heart Organizing, and has been printed in Made in Paper Magazine and Rooms to Create Magazine.
I do offer design and organizational services to local clientele, as well as a variety of organizational products that can be downloaded and/or shipped right to you as you organize your own home (visit my shop HERE). Lastly, be sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Google+ to keep up to date with all my latest posts, projects, and shop offerings. Please free to email me with inquires.
