Hey Everyone! I hope you are all having a fun, relaxing, and reflective Memorial Day weekend. I am back from vacation and am roaring to go with a lot of big project reveals here on the blog as well as a stacked Summer To-Do List that I am already chugging away on. (I’ve got a ton of ideas to finish up the remaining lack-luster rooms/corners in our house – now only to squeeze them in amongst pool time, beach time, and sprinkler time!)
Since we moved into this house just under a year ago, there is one room that has been talked about precious little here on the blog. Have you noticed? Have you been wondering? Do you know which room I’m not talking about? Yep, the Master Bedroom. It’s not that I’ve been hiding a big secret from you…it’s just that this room pretty much sat un-touched for a good long time while we worked away on other (more visible) rooms in the house. Well, since the New Year (um, was that really 5 months ago?), I have been slowly, little-by-little making some good progress in this room, and I am (finally!) ready to start showing it to you. But before I do, I have to give you a quick recap since it’s been so long since we’ve talked about it!
Here’s the small, awkward room on move-in-day:
I guess I can’t say we did nothing to this room from the get go…it did get painted during the big pre-move-in-painting-marathon. The color is Martha Stewart’s Winter’s Day – a medium grey with heavy blue undertones.
But then the furniture was moved in, and it sat and sat and sat…all sad and mis-matched…
No window treatments, no coordinated bedding, no direction…and a big ol’ dumping ground for anything and everything.
And when I say mis-matched, I mean MIS-MATCHED! We scored some new furniture pieces (well, new to us) at really good prices but they needed a lot of love and paint to work in our contemporary chic house. I had my work cut out for me…once I found the time!
Talk about airing our dirty laundry! Sheesh! This room really was a disaster!
Here’s what I love about before pictures: when you feel like you haven’t made any progress at all, it’s so gratifying to look back at where you started and realize you’ve come a long, long way! Friends – I am happy to report our Master has come a tremendously long way from these photos. I can’t wait to start showing you.
Oh, and since it’s been ages since we talked about the plans for this room…here are my original inspiration photos!
I hope I have your interest peaked! Come back on Wednesday for the first look at our still-in-progress but tons better Master Bedroom!
