Happy Thursday Everyone!
I am in the middle of about a million projects (baby’s first birthday party, parents’ 50th wedding anniversary party, my niece’s bedroom makeover, and even a few projects around the house!!!) – but nothing is quite ready for its debut on this here blog. Sad, I know. (But I have a lot of exciting posts coming up, so stay tuned!)
Anyway…since no fresh projects are ready, I thought this would be a great day to show you pictures from He-Mans Owl-Themed Meet & Greet Party! This party was back in August (right when we moved back to Virginia and BEFORE I started blogging).  I can take NO credit here whatsoever (my amazing sisters worked hard for months to pull off this incredible event!)….but there are so many great craft and party ideas here, I just had to show you!
The best part? Not a lot of explanations today…just lots of fun owl-themed eye candy!
When the baby was born, my husband and I lived in California, far away from the rest of our family. Knowing that we were soon moving back east, my sisters and I decided it would be best to do a Baby Meet & Greet in lieu of a (pre-birth) baby shower! This way, not only could most of my family attend, but they actually got to meet Henry, instead of him being in my belly! Months before the baby was born, my sisters sent out electronic save-the-date cards (pictured below)…paper invites (that looked almost the same!) were mailed closer to the party!

There’s lots of fun pictures after the jump!

Let’s start with the craft projects first!

Using MDS, one of my sisters made all sorts of signs, tags, and labels for the party!

Using the Hoot’N’Hollar cricut cartridge, she also made all these adorable owls to decorate the food tables!

I was quick to save all these owls after the party…and they became part of the window bunting for Henry’s nursery!

Also using her cricut magic, my sister made this incredible banner to hang over the food table!

I snagged that too! I got it framed (in a chalkboard frame!) and it now hangs over Henry’s closet!

These cute little owls sat around the food tables, cheering up passers-by! (I am pretty sure this is the tutorial she used!)

Using a variety of punches, she turned simple colored card stock into these adorable owl goodie bags (filled with peanut butter cups!) as the favors!

Now, let’s check out the food!
My other sister was in charge of the food, and boy, did she deliver! Check out these owl cookies!

And an owl cake, made of cupcakes!

And the most incredible part of the food table? The watermelon owl! Hand-carved by my incredibly skilled brother-in-law!

Don’t believe me? There he is doing it! A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

Custom wine bottle labels are somewhat of a tradition at our family parties! They are a great way to make everything coordinate and fit with the theme – and they doubled as “adult prizes” for some of the games!

It’s always fun to see shots of a party before the guests arrive!  Here are all the food/beverage tables before the food is even put out!

Here’s the lunch table! Yummy steak sandwiches, corn on the cob, and salad!

The incredible dessert table!

Wish I could remember all that was on there! But it was all super yummy and gone in a flash!

Here is the star of the show meeting his cousins!

And last (but certainly not least!),  my incredible sisters who threw this incredible party for my first baby! (notice our owl headbands and “Hooty Punch” in our hands!).
Thanks, girls!  This was the best!
